6/4/2023 0 Comments Chip foose nissan z![]() ![]() On a few occasions, I was the last rat on the sinking ship, calling the bottled water company to get their machine before the property owner padlocked the building next day. By then the bank accounts are frozen, the building is padlocked, and the owner is having the sheriff or process server shop up most days of the week to serve one legal summons or the other one. Usually it doesn't get to a 4th bad check. If they don't have the goods/money, you don't have the time to waste. Take everything with you at the end of every day. Start asking the owner for cash, tools or other valuables instead of a check. 3rd time, forget clocking in and the whole concept of being "on time". 2nd time you get a check that doesn't cash, start moving your tools and personal items out of the shop, keep the bare minimum to do the job, and start cashing checks right at the bank they were issued on. Usually the first time the checks don't cash, rewrite your resume and put it out there, call in sick if you have to get to an interview. Especially not when an owner going broke starts getting nuts, or worst of all, writing paychecks that it takes 5 tries to cash.Īnd then what? One day the creditors lock the building, probably with your tools inside as well as the owners, and then you are seriously up the creek. Nature of the beast I suppose, nobody wants to be the last rat on the sinking ship.
